about myt

The Majira Yetu Trust (MYT) is a not- for-profit and non-partisan charity organization founded in November, 2022. We are committed to championing for the rights of the urban indigent, vulnerable communities in low income areas by supporting them to get second chances in life. The MYT Secretariat based in Kaptagat area near Chief's camp along Waiyaki Way (Kangemi) is headed by an Executive Director who reports to the board of trustees. MYT Secretariat has 2 full time staff who are supported by interns and volunteers who come on board as per programmatic and project needs. We work in low-income areas across the country and beyond.

WHO WE ARE

OUR OBJECTIVES

FIRST OBJECTIVE

To promote the emancipation of the youth to enable them to position and advocate for their agenda through intergenerational conversations, career building initiatives and mentorship programs.

SECOND OBJECTIVE

To support the improvement of Livelihoods of women through empowerment programs, knowledge building, establishing of social movements and revolving funds.

 

THIRD OBJECTIVE

To provide platforms to promote self-care for the urban poor and vulnerable communities (orphans, widows/ widowers, single women, elderly, HIV survivors and child-led homes); through establishing of community fellowships and prayer circles.

 

 

FOURTH OBJECTIVE

Ensure the promotion of sharing of knowledge and experiences on Community development and ensuring that the different experiences of affected communities are synthesized and documented. This will be done through; amplifying community voices in decision making spaces through empowerment programs, civic consciousness and knowledge building.

FIFTH OBJECTIVE

Advance the need to establish a robust MYT by encouraging a sustained & sustainable organization through formation of Prayer Mountains; establishment of community Christian libraries; and convey doctrinal teachings. More efforts will also be directed towards including categories of organizations and groups currently underrepresented and enlarging its geographical scope.
